Transform Anger

Healing comes when we find the strength to open our hearts to ourselves.

Lee Byrd

Paying attention to our emotions we find what needs to be healed–this is why we are here, why we took human form–to heal. Healing comes when, with great tenderness, we open our hearts to ourselves. this means being aware of how we are feeling and allowing, not judging, these feelings.

Remember, emotions are natural, they are not good or bad. Emotions help us to navigate our world.

Of all our emotions, anger is the one that is the most misunderstood. Most of us have been conditioned to avoid anger at all cost. But anger, like all emotions, naturally arises and can intrinsically aid us in our healing. Some emotions, such as anger, serve as a red flag indicating that we have been violated (real or imagined) and should never be ignored.

So, what to do? Good question!

The first step in releasing these emotional patterns and replace them with more positive life-affirming ones, is to become aware of their existence. One very direct way of doing this is to practice body-awareness and create a habit of noticing the physical sensations within the body. These sensations are always an indication of what we are really feeling in any given moment.

When we get quiet and notice what is here in the body, we strengthen our innate ability to listen for their messages. Moving from this place empowers us to make genuine and lasting change. Honor yourself, make a commitment to heal the wounds, and step into a life of inner peace.

Inner peace is not the absence of conflict or pain, it is the ability to find stillness within the conflict or pain.

Four easy-to-do steps to creating peace within the storm

Meditation: The act of sitting quietly, focusing our awareness within.

  • Find a safe space with little or no distraction
  • Light a candle, diffuse an essential oil such as Frankincense
  • Soft music in the background if you like
  • Eyes closed or gaze softened

Meditation is not avoiding or escaping the world but rather a simple and direct way to connect with our Divine Self.

Body Awareness: Being the witness, scanning the body and noticing what sensations are present.

Breath-work: Balancing the emotional body and the nervous system, allowing clarity of thought.

  • Full breath in through the nose
  • Hold for moment
  • Release very slowly again through the nose
  • Repeat at least three times.

Self-Inquiry Journaling: An inner process of exploring what is going on and asking and Soul to reveal what is really going on.

  • At the end of the meditation, body awareness and breath work, take out your journal and write: “Dear Soul, what do I need to hear today?”
  • Now sit quietly and when moved to do so, write whatever comes up. Do not edit, just go with the flow.
  • Set it aside for now and come back later to review. Now you may want to write more about what you are feeling. Be hones, direct, and tender, this is only for you.
We put on our detective hat and begin the exploration into what is really going on.

Some of our conditioning–needing only to be recognized–will dissolve immediately. But for others, those issues with deeper roots, we may have to do it again and again. However, if you are diligent, you will discover Truth and the Peace we so desire. This is our True Nature.

This is an invitation to create and live in a more authentic way.

True Peace can only be found within the heart.
