Emotions

Emotions, like our breath, come and go. Certain circumstances trigger cellular memories and our emotional body goes into reactivity, which is normal. This response happens to absolutely everyone. All the great spiritual teachers throughout millennia have spoken this truth: reactivity naturally arises, freedom comes when we don’t attached. And that is the secret in a nut shell

The moment we stop resisting the truth of our nature, our lives begin to change in ways we cannot even begin to imagine.

Over the years we developed certain emotional patterns as a way of protecting ourselves. We cling to these patterns out of some belief that this is how it is, even when the patterns no longer serve us. Growing up no one told us that, even though we may not be in control of the outer world, we always have the choice as to how to feel about the people and events of our life.

Suffering is the resistance to what is here now. Pain is an inevitable part of life but suffering requires our permission.

Just like Dorothy and her ruby slippers, we have the power to step out of the seemingly endless, often destructive cycle of suffering.

There’s no place like home.

I am not minimizing your pain, I am simply reminding you that you have the ability, the power, to meet the pain and through acceptance, to come to inner peace. This has always been available. It is innate. It is our birthright.

As a kid and a young woman my life was challenging. I didn’t know who I was and spent years searching for someone who could tell me. This was excruciating to say the least. I thought that all I really wanted and needed was to find that person who’d love me just like I am.

I struggled for years, bouncing from one teacher or technique to another, years of reading every book I could lay my hands on. I was desperate to figure out what was wrong with me, why did I hurt so? This road was long and arduous. The baggage I schlepped around was burdensome and useless. But still I persisted.

Here is where it gets interesting. Check out these deliciously juicy Truths:

  • There is nothing to do.
  • You are perfect just the way you are.
  • Freedom from suffering is your birthright and it is always here, always available.
  • You are Divine Love.
  • There is nothing wrong with you. And remember,
  • There is nothing to do but to simply be here now.
  • Be you! This is what the world needs now.

Yes, I struggled for years seeking Truth, seeking the other person that could and would validate me. And after all this time, I finally found that person – Me.

Change came when I stopped and listened to the quiet voice within.

Healing the pain doesn’t mean it never existed. It means it no longer controls our life!
